Our Clinics


Adult & Travel Immunisations


We recommend that all adults have effective tetanus, diphtheria and polio immunisation. In addition we offer a specialised travel immunisation service. Please ask the Patient Services team for further details. Holiday immunisations require to be planned about two months in advance to be fully effective.


Ante-Natal / Post-Natal Clinics


These are conducted on a shared care basis by your doctor and midwives from Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary Maternity Unit. Clinic appointments can be made in the usual manner.


Asthma, Diabetes & Hypertension Clinics


All doctors in conjunction with the Practice Nurses offer an organised programme of follow-up for patients with these conditions.


Cervical Smear Clinic


We recommend that all women in age group 25-65 years should have regular cervical smears at the intervals recommended by your doctor. Patients will be sent appointments for this clinic which is conducted by our Practice Nurses. You may, however, make appointments yourself if your wish.


Child Immunisation Clinics


We strongly recommend that all children are fully immunised wherever possible. The clinic is normally held on a Tuesday and appointments can be made by contacting the Patient services team. The clinic is conducted by our Immunisation Nurse.


Child Surveillance Clinic


Our Health Visitors and Doctors work together to provide a Child Health Surveillance Service. We recommend a series of health and developmental checks on all children from birth to the age of five years. Information about these can be obtained from your Health Visitor.


Contraceptive & Family Planning


Advice on family planning can be obtained from your doctor during normal Surgery appointments. Contraceptive implant clinics are held at the Practice, a discussion with your doctor is required before attending this clinic.  We also run a separate Coil Clinic for fitting, removal or checking coils.  When booking your appointment, please specify which clinic you wish to attend.



Foot Clinic

A foot clinic is held every Wednesday within the practice at the price of £15.50. This is basic foot care which is for the cutting of toe nails and filing away hard skin. To book in call the practice or come in and make an appointment.

General Health Promotion


A variety of health promotion clinics are held in the Surgery. Further information can be obtained by making an appointment with the Practice Nurse.


Gynaecology Clinic


Our female GP's, Drs Debbie Swalwell and Erin Barrett, offer a Gynaecology Clinic to all female patients within the practice.  Services offered include: contraception advice, incontinence advice, fitting of ring pessaries and guidance on HRT.  There are generally one / two clinics per month.  When booking your appointment please specify you would like this clinic.  We also run a separate Coil Clinic for fitting, removal or checking coils.  When booking your appointment, please specify which clinic you wish to attend.


Methadone Prescribing Clinic


People who are under the care of the Integrated Drugs Service for NHS Dumfries & Galloway, once stable and no longer needing intensive specialist input, may be provided with methadone prescriptions for substitution therapy by their GP. A nurse from the specialist unit in Dumfries, attends a clinic once a week to provide a liaison service.

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner offer minor illness appointments. These are bookable in advance and on the day.

Minor Surgery / Wart Treatment Clinic


Certain minor surgical procedures along with most wart treatments can be carried out at the Surgery. Details of minor surgical procedures available can be obtained from your own doctor and appointments for the treatments of warts made once your doctor has advised this is necessary.


Open Phlebotomy Clinic

The Open Phlebotomy Clinic run from 10.00-11.00 am.  Patients requiring a blood test requested by a Clincian can just walk in no need to book. You will need to report to Reception so that you may be directed where to sit and wait to be called.




Optometrists are highly skilled and have spent many years studying eye conditions. You can get advice, diagnosis and treatment  for many eye conditions such as blurred or loss of visions, sore, infected or dry eyes. You do not need to see your GP first.


Practice Pharmacist


Greyfriars Primary care Pharmacist are experts in medication and can answer your medication queries. If you wish to speak to one of our Pharmacists please ask a member of the Patient Services Team.


Weight Management

The weight management is a drop in clinic held every Friday at 12:00 at the practice. There is no need to book. This service is led by NHS Nithsdale Health Improvement team.


Wound Management Clinic


These are conducted by the District Nursing Team on Monday, Wednesday and Friday - attendance is by appointment.
